Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog 3, due for release on December 20, 2024, has unveiled its first official trailer. The trailer gives us our first official look at Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog and a surprising reveal of Jim Carrey’s dual role as not only Dr. Robotnik, Sonic’s archnemesis, but also as Gerald Robotnik, Shadow’s creator. Returning cast members include Ben Schwartz as Sonic the Hedgehog, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Miles “Tails” Prower, Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna, and James Marsden as Tom Wachowski.
Based on the popular Sonic the Hedgehog game franchise by Sega, the movie is the third in Director’s Jeff Fowler’s cinematic interpretation of the character. The plot seemingly takes most of it’s cues from 2001’s Sonic Adventure 2, which introduced Shadow the Hedgehog. It has been confirmed that the signature song “Live & Learn” will be in the movie, so that’s something to look forwards too! With the character Maria Robotnik being seen in the trailer, played by Alyla Browne, seen in the trailer, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is delving deeper into the darker aspects of the franchise. The film still retains the lighthearted tone of the franchise. Serving up a lot of fanservice for the fans and family friendly entertainment for the family.
