At the end of the 2024 Pokemon World Championship, the release date for the Pokémon TCG Pocket game was revealed to be October 30, 2024. This was alongside several announcements with Pokemon GO and Pokémon UNITE. Pre-registration for Android and iOS is now available.
What is Pokémon TCG Pocket?
Pokémon TCG Pocket is an upcoming game that simulates playing and collecting the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG). With almost 53 Billion Cards sold around the world as of 2023, the Pokemon TCG is one of the most popular TCG’s currently played. The game is similar to the previously released, Pokemon TCG Live. While TCG Live focuses on the competitive card game aspect, TCG Pocket focuses on the collecting aspect of the game. The game not only features interactive ways of learning how to play the card game, but also experience the thrill of collecting them all digitally with virtual booster packs. Trainers will be able to open two (2) booster packs per day and collect exclusive illustrations of their favorite cards. From classic illustrations from when the card first released to brand new immersive cards. The game’s immersive cards lets players explore the 2D illustration in a fully-rendered world allowing them to truly appreciate the card in all its glory. At the end of the trailers, a Mewtwo fully immersive card was teased.
What Else Was Revealed at the 2024 Pokemon World Championship?
Pokémon UNITE revealed three new Pokémon: Armarouge (releasing September 12), Darkrai (in October), and Psyduck (in Novermber). Morpeko was also reveled to be coming to Pokemon GO. Morpeko will be able to use a unique Charged Attack to change form during battle. A mysterious new development was also teased for the game, and more information will be available at a later date.
Lastly, the dates and locations for the next two years of Pokémon World Championships. For 2025, the competition moves to Anaheim, California, from August 15 to 17, 2025. For 2026, the event will be held in San Francisco, California, from August 28 to 30, 2026.
