Metaphor: ReFantazio was featured at the Philippine Game Developers Expo (PGDX) last July 27, 2024. Atlus Senior Managing Director and Executive Producer, Naoto Hiraoka spoke at the event highlighting the game’s key features. The game will be released on October 11, 2024, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is a brand-new RPG by Studio Zero and published by Atlus. Headed by Katsura Hashino, director and producer of Persona 5, the story follows a protagonist set on protecting their kingdom after the assassination of the king brings chaos and awakens a unique form of magic known as “Royal Magic”. Players can expect the staples of Atlus RPGs such as weakness-based turn-based combat and an intricately designed social system wrapped up in a medieval fantasy aesthetic. Key Atlus staff members such as Character Designer, Shigenori Soejima, and Composer, Shoji Meguro, are part of the team that is bringing the world to life. Highlighted at the event were the designs of the vehicles, called Gauntlet Runners, by Mechanical Designer, Ikuto Yamashita, of Neon Genesis Evangelion fame.
Successful events in the Philippines
“Especially in the Philippines, Atlus’ titles have been very well received and have a very large fanbase here. And one of the reasons is the introduction of many media outlets and influencers, but above all, it is because of the passionate support of our fans in the Philippines,” said Hiraoka as he praised the support Filipino fans have given Atlus at several events. Last, November 17, 2023, a Persona 5 Tactica-themed collaboration cafe at the Moon Rabbit Cafe was held to immense fanfare. The Persona 3 Reload x TNC High Grounds launch party last February 2, 2024, was also praised as a rousing success. “Starting with the Philippines, South East Asia will become an important region of Sega and Atlus in the future. So we will do our best to reach as many people as possible,” said Hiraoka
